Premier Christy Clark has announced that the Site C project has been approved and construction will start in the summer of 2015.  The total price to build the third dam on the Peace River could reach up to $8.775 billion, and has also been met with its fair share of criticism.
Some points of contention often surround the potential impact on the environment and First Nations, uncertainty of the final price and impact on the provincial debt, as well as the need for the additional power and potential alternatives.

However, a review conducted earlier in the year says it found the dam would provide stable and relatively low cost power.

The proximity of the proposed Site C location with Fort St. John is approximately 7 km.

More details to come.
